Robbers rule over tech City
The Times of India

Bangalore has become unsafe for residents with a spate of robberies making headlines during the past few days.

Robbers and burglars continue their dominance in and around Bangalore, leaving citizens insecure. They strike at will at all places both during day and night.

A woman was robbed of her valuables and cash at knifepoint by two robbers at CTO circle, just a few metres from the city police commissionerate, on Sunday night. The victim, Sunita Mehra, a resident of Vyalikaval 2nd cross, was going home on her moped when the motorcycle-borne miscreants accosted her at around 9:30 pm.

Holding a knife at her, they relieved a gold chain, gold ring, Rs 3,850 and her bag and escaped. Cubbon Park police are investigating the case.

In another incident, Vijaynagar Post Office Supervisor Eeramani Gowda was robbed at knifepoint of Rs 20,000 and jewellery worth Rs 15,000 by a group of three near his residence in P&T Colony, Rajajinagar III block in the wee hours of Monday.

The incident occurred when Gowda went out to ease himself after having a chat with his cousin Venkatesh, who had arrived with his family from Chitradurga. The trio who came there on a motorcycle asked him for the way to Vivekananda College. When he lifted his hand to point the direction, the gold bracelet caught their sight. They pulled out a knife and threatened to kill him if he did not hand over the bracelet, two gold rings and a watch to them. They also took away Rs 20,000 cash he was carrying in his pocket.

Cop’s house burgled

Burglars broke into the house of a former police officer in Emmadihalli under Whitefield police limits and decamped with gold jewellery and cash, all valued at over Rs 3 lakh, on the wee hours of Monday.

They entered the house of Ms Siddamma, former deputy superintendent of police, by breaking open the bedroom window grills. The victim and her family members were sleeping in the hall to beat the summer heat.

After entering the room, the miscreants latched it from inside.

They ransacked the room and fled after looting gold jewellery and Rs 25,000 in cash.

However, the family members came to know about the incident only around 6 am in the morning.

House ransacked

Miscreants escaped with gold jewellery worth over Rs 4 lakh from the house of a retired PWD superintendent engineer K Gopal Krishna Rao, on Margosa Roa 11th Cross under Malleshwaram police limits.

Mr Rao had gone to Tirupati along with his family members on April 26.

The family found out about the burglary when they returned on Sunday afternoon.

The burglars had gained entry by breaking open the rear door.
