BANGALORE: A city-based project designer has proposed an eco-friendly double-decker car parking system for Bangalore as an answer to increasing traffic congestion.

Dhyan Vedanth, who presented a design for the city’s showcase street MG Road at the press club here earlier this week said the design could be adopted for the entire city. ‘‘Traffic congestion will be reduced by at least half and shopping on MG Road will be much easier,’’ he said.

A double-decker parking system is eco-friendly and proposes to enhance the beauty of the roads by making Bangalore greener and fresher. ‘‘This design for MG Road, stretches from Anil Kumble Circle to Brigade Road junction and would facilitate parking for more than 350 cars,’’ he pointed out.
