BANGALORE, MARCH 17. Finally, you can pay your property tax and download forms without hanging around the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) complex and working according to the whims of government officials. This is for residential areas coming under the BDA.

E-pragati, a kiosk, was launched by the BDA two weeks ago to deter people from milling around the office complex waiting for things to happen. One kiosk is located in the front of the BDA office on Kumara Krupa Road and another is located in HBR complex. Through E-pragati, the public can find out whether a site they are planning to buy is approved or not, they can find out details of any property and even pay their property tax through it and they can download various forms and maps for Rs. 20.

The 24 x 7 kiosk is also fitted with a Geographic Information System to track information and complaints.

"The kiosk is doing well. More than 20 people have used it in the last week," said an official of the BDA. "Based on the success of the system we will consider adding more kiosks."
