Think twice before you drive down M.G. Road

Shoppers on M.G. Road were in for a surprise on Saturday after the traffic police introduced parallel parking. While the police say the new system helps in reducing congestion on the busy road, the stretch now accommodates 50 cars less. In the old system, cars reversing out of the parking lot blocked traffic, according to the police. The stretch from Cauvery Arts and Crafts junction to Anil Kumble Circle, which earlier could accommodate 165 cars can now take 95 cars. This has been introduced on an experimental basis for a month. Police have planned to introduce the system up to Trinity Circle. The stretch where 265 cars could be parked will now accommodate 190 cars.
