State Govt relieves Jerome to become Krishna’s secretary

BANGALORE: The State Government on Monday relieved senior IAS officer and Secretary (Minority Welfare) Jayaker Jerome to go on an inter-state deputation as secretary to Governor of Maharashtra.

According to a government order issued on Monday, the deputation would come into effect from the date of his reporting for duty to the government of Maharashtra.

Jerome who revived the Bangalore Development Authority when S M Krishna was the Chief Minister was unceremoniously transferred by the coalition government.

He was later appointed as Secretary to the newly created Minority Welfare section, under the Social Welfare Department.

After Krishna was appointed Governor of Maharashtra, the former CM had asked the Centre for Jerome’s transfer as his secretary.

On February 9, the Union Department of Personnel and Training had given its approval for the inter-state deputation of the 1983 batch IAS officer.
