BANGALORE: Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) reiterated on Tuesday, its firm stand on the buildings that have come up in Arkavathy Layout area without its approval while many building owners staged a protest on Tuesday.

A press release from BDA said all private layouts developed in Arkavathy layout will be demolished without any compensation benefits. BDA also promised that it will keep its Sankrati promise of making 20,000 allotments with site numbers and road numbers.

However, many residents and organisations staged a protest against the BDA’s move to demolish their properties. The Action Committee for Arkavathy Residents Grievances in its statement said that the residents had obtained building permits from the relevant local bodies and have been paying taxes to them. The committee alleged that BDA is not considering the records they produced before it.

In an another appeal submitted to the Governor, one Diamond Basha submitted that over 20,000 low-income group residents have been living in the layout area and will have no place to go if BDA demolishes their homes.
