BANGALORE, DEC. 19. "Bangalore Habba will continue next year also with some improvements," Nandini Alva, one of the organisers of the controversial cultural festival, has said.

Addressing a gathering here on Friday, Ms. Alva said: "Probably next year, we will provide free transport facility for people coming to watch the habba programmes. This year, we could not do it as we hardly had any support from the Government or the private sector."

"In the process of concentrating on providing basic amenities, we are losing out a great deal on our cultural heritage," she noted.

Events such as Bangalore Habba kindle the emotions of people, she added.

Padmini Ravi, the co-organiser of the habba, explained the objectives of the Artistes' Foundation For Arts started by the organisers of the cultural festival. She said the foundation's main objective is to remind individuals, society, corporates and the media of their responsibility towards art forms.

"We are trying to get professional help in systematising the art scenario for which we need more support from everyone. In the next habba, we are thinking of bringing an international art and artiste. We wanted to do it this year but failed because of lack of monetary support." Ms. Ravi said the highlight of the next habba would be participation of youngsters and students in large numbers.

"During this time gap of one year, we will conduct seminars, debates and symposiums at various schools and colleges.

"We will also conduct competitions in dance, music and theatre for students and select the best to perform at the habba," she added.
