Bangalore roads are bad: Krishna to Sonia

Bangalore: After Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi expressed concern about Bangalore’s crumbling infrastructure, particularly roads, former CM S.M. Krishna on Friday apprised his party supremo Sonia Gandhi on the issue.

Sonia is said to have sought details on the state of Bangalore roads and the proposed international airport. “I said there are outstanding issues such as the Bangalore international airport and the condition of roads, which are very relevant for the city’s improvement. I have been briefing Sonia earlier also on the airport status,’’ Krishna told The Times of India from New Delhi over the phone.

Once called Bangalore’s CEO, Krishna lent support to the IT captains’ woes on Bangalore’s poor infrastructure during an interaction with the media on October 28. “The present state of affairs cannot continue. Roads in rural areas are equally worse. Local companies might relocate to Hyderabad or Chennai, but MNCs will fly away to developing countries,’’ he had said.
