Forget good roads or drains in Koramangala

Forget good roads or drains in Koramangala
Times of India

Here’s a message to residents of Koramangala: stop dreaming of good roads, footpaths and clean drains. Be satisfied with the potholes that will be filled up (nobody knows when), that too depending on the climatic conditions.

On Wednesday, members of the Koramangala residents civic group met BCC commissioner K. Jothiramalingam to draw his attention towards the civic problems in Koramangala. But the meeting turned out to be a big disappointment. Residents’ demands for good, pothole-free roads and pavements and clean drains were countered by the commissioner’s staple “cash-crunch’’ reply. Jothiramalingam made it clear that only pothole-filling work can be taken up, that too depending on the climate. No road work will be carried out since the BCC does not have funds for doing up interior roads. Further, levelling of pavements is out of the question now as the BCC council needs to approve the second phase of pavement remodelling project. As for desilting of drains, that will be taken up wherever necessary, the commissioner told the residents.

That’s not all: Koramangala 80 ft road road, in shambles right now, will be asphalted only after monsoon — that too not the entire stretch, but only the portion excavated by BWSSB.
