BBMP to launch Operation Rajakaluve

BBMP to launch Operation Rajakaluve
Bangalore, Jan 3, DH News Service:

The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike will launch ‘Operation Rajakaluve’ from next week, to clear encroachment of major storm water drains in the City.

The City has about 840 kilometres length of primary and secondary drains out of which 150 kilometres of drain are known to be encroached, so far. A survey is still underway to find out the status of the entire length of drains, Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike sources said.

Even as the survey is continuing, the BBMP decided to clear the encroachment as its monsoon preparation. Slabs would be laid over the drains once the encroachment is cleared, in order to prevent mishaps during the rainy season. Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike Commissioner has instructed all the zonal chiefs to remove all the illegal structures constructed over storm water drains.
