Survey of heritage trees launched
Bangalore, DHNS:

Concerned about fast disappearance of heritage trees in the ‘Garden City’? Then join hands with the Bangalore Environment Trust to protect and preserve them.

The Trust has embarked upon a novel programme to identify and protect heritage trees and ‘sacred’ vanas in and around Bangalore. “We have launched a survey of heritage trees in the city...It will be of great service if anybody gives us any information on these trees,” retired forest officer S G Neginhal of the Trust told Deccan Herald.

Mr Neginhal said, it is high time these priceless trees are protected. As part of the programme, the Trust first will identify these trees and display boards in front of them, highlighting their importance. The Trust can be contacted at no 643, 9th main, 2nd cross, 3rd stage, Basaveswaranagar, Bangalore - 79. Ph 9341228852, e-mail sgneginhal@gmail.com.
