Explain stand on Metro station, HC tells Bidari
Bangalore, August 4, DHNS:

The High Court has sought an explanation from the City Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari regarding the suggestion he has made to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) to shift the proposed metro rail station on Tumkur Road citing security reasons.

Hearing a plea by R N Shetty and others, who had sought to quash the acquisition of their property for Namma Metro station on Tumkur Road, Justice Ram Mohan Reddy has sought an explanation regarding the police commissioner’s letter dated June 18, 2010 to Managing Director, BMRCL to change the alignment.

The Commissioner in his correspondence to MD, BMRCL has suggested to shift the station 55 meters away from the existing location to avoid 26/11 type incidents.

“It is in the interest of public security and traffic to shift the station by 55 meters,” the Commissioner has said.
