BANGALORE A recent survey report has revealed that the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), which endeavours to clear encroachment, has itself encroached more than 3 acres of land belonging to Thalaghattapura lake.
The BDA had conducted the survey to develop the Thalaghattapura lake, which is one of the 12 lakes the BDA is rejuvenating. The survey report revealed that the BDA had encroached upon 3 acres and 32 guntas of land belonging to the lake. The utility has even allotted more than 30 sites on the encroached land.
“We have cleared the encroachment and the allottees who were given sites on the encroached land would be given sites elsewhere,” said former BDA commissioner H Siddaiah.
He added that the allottees had been intimated about the decision and the concerned authorities were directed to allot alternate sites at the earliest.
Of the 12 lakes that the BDA is developing, Thalaghattapura lake is the worst affected by encroachment. Seven acres and 30 guntas of its land has been encroached. The BDA has started clearing encroachment here.
BDA’s preliminary survey report has revealed that land belonging to many lakes has been encroached upon.
A BDA official said they had started the process to clear the encroachment. He added that the rejuvenation was under progress and some of the lakes would be ready in a couple of months.
