BANGALORE: The CV Raman Road can now find some breathing space.
A longpending road widening project will finally takeoff, which will widen the road by 30 metres. A BBMP official said the road-widening work will cost Rs 1.75 crore approximately.
The Ministry of Defence has cleared a proposal to hand over a part of the land, belonging to the Indian Air Force (IAF) Headquarters Training Command, to BBMP. An MoU has been signed for transfer of 4,184 square metres of land to BBMP. "Tenders were floated on June 9, June 23 is the last date for the receipt of tenders," said an official.
Value of the land
The Palike official said the width of the land handed over ranges between 3 to 7.5 metres.
Its length is about 900 mts.
"The present market value of the land that has been handed over is approximately Rs 50 crore," said the official.
BBMP to pay back in kind
As per the MoU, the Palike will build a swimming pool at the IAF station in Yelahanka at an estimated cost of Rs 4.95 crore.
BBMP will also take up illumination of the playground, golf course, cricket ground and park at the Headquarters Training Command at Rs 1.90 crore. The Manoranjan Auditorium, within the premises, will get a facelift at a cost of Rs 1.30 crore. Sources said the MoU was signed in 2006, approved by the then BMP.
