Puttenahalli underpass contractor to be fined again

The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is planning to levy a penalty of Rs 20 lakh on the contractor of Puttenahalli underpass and issue a third notice to the Kadirenahalli underpass contractor.

According to the BBMP sources, already a penalty of Rs 80 lakh has been levied on the contractor of Puttenahalli underpass for the delay and further Rs 20 lakh penalty would be levied shortly. “Despite our penalty the contractor has not woken up. Already we have recovered Rs 80 lakh,” said an officer dealing with the JnNURM projects.

The total cost of the project, according to the official, is Rs 21 crore of which the contractor will lose around 4.5 per cent in the form of penalty.

The BBMP is also willing to initiate action against the Kadirenahalli underpass contractor against whom third notice would be issued following which penalty would be levied, said the sources. Already the contractor has paid Rs 75 lakh as penalty to the BBMP.
