BANGALORE: Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Wednesday advised the newlyelected corporators of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) not to support the real estate mafia and law-breakers.
In a thanks-giving function for the city workers of the party, who ensured victory in the recent BBMP polls, Yeddyurappa held the real estate lobby responsible for the illegal constructions in the state and cautioned corporators that any support to these elements by them would not be tolerated by the Bangaloreans.
Stating that properties worth more than Rs 8,000 crore were encroached in the BBMP limits, the CM said that if the new administration managed to reclaim these properties, the revenue of the corporation would get sufficient funds for the city’s development.
Listing out reasons for the BJP’s stupendous performance in Bangalore, Yeddyurappa said that the installation of the Thiruvalluvar statue had helped the party come closer to Tamilians in the city.
The CM also assured the corporators that he and his Cabinet colleagues would extend all cooperation for the development of the city. State BJP president KS Eshwarappa also spoke.
