As many as five lakh saplings will be planted in Bangalore during the coming rainy season, Chief Minister Yeddyurappa announced on Saturday.

“My aim is to make Bangalore a green city,” he told reporters and added BBMP would begin planting saplings after June this year. All wards would be covered under the programme.
The State government would also take up a programme to conserve lakes in the City limits.

Yeddyurappa also said he has directed the Palike to take necessary measures to avoid flooding during heavy rains. The Palike would constitute a separate team of officials to attend to rain-related problems.
