Bangalore: Barricades are disappearing and the freshly asphalted roads are getting broader.
With viaduct work almost complete along Reach 1 (Byappanahalli to Chinnaswamy stadium), restoration has begun. The traffic police and Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation will jointly restore the four major stretches along this 7-km reach, including CMH Road and M G Road.
Almost half of the green barricades have been removed on M G Road, along the stretch from Nalli Arcade to Brigade Road junction. The remaining will be taken off in two-three days. Barricades on the stretch from Brigade Road junction to Anil Kumble Circle (barring M G Road station area) will also be cleared in the next 15 days.
Viaduct work on 100 Feet Road and CMH Road in Indiranagar will also be completed in 10 days. “We have already removed barricades on CMH Road and tarring is also complete. This should restore some relief,” a BMRC engineer said.

MARCHING AHEAD
March will be crucial for Reach 1 as work on the tracks and station areas will begin. Preliminary surveys for track work are in progress. “Track work will move faster in some parts from both ends. The first section will be the stretch from Nalli Arcade to Brigade Road junction,” a BMRC engineer said.
Work on stations is expected to cause major traffic diversions. The areas may be closed to traffic for at least two months. “We are working on minimizing discomfort for commuters. Elaborate realignments are planned,” additional commissioner of police (traffic & security) Praveen Sood said.
