Expressway brings cheer

Expressway brings cheer
Bangalore, Jan 23, DH News Service:

Road users in Electronic City, Madivala, Silk Board junction and surrounding areas heaved a sigh of relief on Saturday, thanks to inauguration of the elevated tollway on Hosur Road.

A day after India’s longest elevated highway was inaugurated, traffic was seen moving smoothly on the flyover, roads below, service road and interior roads. “There was less traffic movement on Saturday. While the reduction in traffic could be attributed to it being a Saturday, a holiday for IT companies, traffic was less chaotic when compared to earlier,” said the Electronic City traffic police.

There was a little confusion on Friday as motorists and drivers took the flyover without realising that they could only get down at Electronic City on one end or at Silk Board Junction on the other end. But on Saturday, the police displayed a board indicating that only those wanting to reach Madivala and Silk Board Junction can use the flyover.
A few of the motorists and car drivers, who were driving at more than 80 kmph were directed to slow down.

The police have also decided to not impose fine amount on those violating the norms in terms of speed for another couple of days.
