Yeddyurappa on a foundation laying spree

A day after releasing the list of BBMP’s reserved wards, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa was on a foundation laying spree on Tuesday at Padmanabhanagar.


The BJP showed its election preparedness for the upcoming BBMP elections by inaugurating some ambitious projects in Padmanabhanagar, which also houses the residences of former Prime Minister and JD-S supremo H D Deve Gowda.

He laid the foundation stone for a flyover at Kittur Rani Chennamma Circle, along the Ring Road axis with a budget of Rs 32.3 crores. He also initiated the Dorekere Lake and Uttarahalli Lake restoration work at an estimated cost of Rs 10 crores.

Green ambassadors

As part of the ‘Greening Bangalore campaign’ he selected school students, who will be designated as Green ambassadors. They will give feedback to the BBMP on various events happening around them through postcards. Best suggestions will be rewarded by the BBMP.

Transport Minister and Padmanabhanagar MLA R Ashok, BWSSB Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu, MLAs M Krishnappa, M Srinivas, Ravi Subramanya and BBMP Commissioner Bharat Lal Meena were present on the occassion. Later, addressing a gathering at a playground near the DG Nursing Home at Padmanabhanagar, he said that KSRTC has been given the best transport corporation award. He also said that the water supply and sewerage system in Bangalore was the best in the country.

Remarkable

He said the achievements of the BJP government in the last one-and-half year is remarkable, yet it has a long way to go. This year works worth Rs 6,500 crores were kickstarted. Moreover, the Metro Rail would be operationalised from 2010. Lake conservation is another important task and funds will be allocated for the conservation of all the 160 lakes in the city, he added.
