Students display future airport designs at BIAL

The Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) that is planning its future expansion to include a second terminal and runway in addition to an airport city, on Wednesday showcased designs submitted by students of various engineering colleges at the airport premises here.


Students came to present their concepts on the space defined and included six leading architecture colleges: BMS College Of Engineering, Dayananda Sagar College Of Engineering, M S Ramaiah Institute Of Technology, R V College Of Engineering, University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering and Acharya Institute.

Speaking to students, Chief Executive Officer of BIAL Marcel Hungerbuehler said, “This is the first of its kind student outreach programme and fits in with our inclusive approach, wherein local community is involved. As you all know this airport will be a work in progress project extending to the next 15-20 years and will house much more than what one sees today.”

Doors to ideas
From a second terminal and runway to a complete buzzing airport city, this truly will be an airport of the future. We hope that this programme will open the doors to ideas, thoughts and suggestions from you – the next generation architects, he observed.
