Bangalore: To provide signal-free connectivity from Central Silk Board to Hebbal Flyover junction, the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) will construct six grade separators, covering a 31-km stretch of eight junctions along the Outer Ring Road.

Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa laid the foundation stone for two of these grade separators at Kadubeesanahalli and Mahadevapura junctions on Saturday. He also inaugurated work on a high-tech B.R. Ambedkar Multipurpose Training Centre and Auditorium, 444 houses for beneficiaries from SC/ST communities and comprehensive development of roads and drains in Krishnarajpuram to be taken up by the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). All these works will be taken up at a total cost of Rs. 103.79 crore.

“This signal-free (stretch) between Central Silk Board and Hebbal flyover will connect southern parts of the city to the international airport along the eastern stretch,” Mr. Yeddyurappa said, and appealed to people to bear with the inconvenience during construction. The Chief Minister said his Government’s priority was to provide education, health and housing to all. “Our focus is to make Karnataka a hut-free State before the end of our tenure. We have taken up infrastructure projects worth Rs. 7,500 crore in the last one and a half years. All projects will be completed within the 18-month deadline and there will be no cost escalation,” he said.

BDA Commissioner Siddaiah spoke on the 10 grade separators to be constructed across the city at a total cost of Rs. 410 crore in the next one year. The two flyovers at Kadubeesanahalli and Mahadevapura junctions are being constructed at a cost of Rs 39.80 crore and Rs 38.67 crore respectively. The BDA proposes to provide signal-free connectivity from the Hebbal flyover to Mysore Road.

“We are also planning to construct an additional loop to the Hebbal flyover for a free turn for connectivity up to Yeshwanthpur and Tumkur Road,” he said.

Higher Education Minister Aravind Limbavali, K.R. Puram MLA N.S. Nandish Reddy, Jayanagar MLA B.N. Vijaykumar and party MPs P.C. Mohan and D.B. Chandre Gowda were present.
