Road is NICE, say drivers

Road is NICE, say drivers
Bangalore, Dec 8, DHNS:

Coming out in support of the NICE corridor, the Indian Vehicle Drivers Trade Union on Tuesday hit out at former prime minister H D Deve Gowda and the JD (S) for opposing the project.

Union State president G N Sadananda Swamy told reporters that the drivers and regular users of the road have found the NICE corridor to be very useful for commuting in lesser time.

“The condition of the road is very good. Expenditure for vehicle repairs have come down drastically after using the road. The condition of roads/highways constructed and maintained by the government is deplorable. Deve Gowda is not the only son of the soil. Thousands of drivers too are children of farmers,” said Swamy.

The union with a membership of 35,000 drivers is of the opinion that the issue of NICE be resolved by the Supreme Court and not by Deve Gowda. “Let the SC decide on the issue of land acquisition and farmers affected from it,” Swamy said.
