The ‘Pay and Park’ scheme will be back in the city again with the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) planning to introduce it at 37 roads including MG Road, Brigade Road and Jayanagar.


According to BBMP sources, tenders were recently invited for this purpose and subsequently many interested groups applied for it. After shortlisting them, the BBMP finally allotted the contract to three-four parties.

The rate for pay and park has not been finalised yet as the Palike is insisting that the contractors fix a rate that suits the public and without burning a hole in their pockets and leading to opposition against the move.

Sources added that the pay and park system is likely to come into force in the next fortnight. Besides MG Road, Brigade Road, some other prominent roads which will have the pay and park system are St Marks Road, Millers Road, Residency Road, Jayanagar and surrounding areas and Convent Road. This pay and park system will be computer-based leaving little room for disputes.
