Two depots to go next month
TIMES NEWS NETWORK

Bangalore: Amidst confusion over the KSRTC bus terminus being shifted to give way for Metro work, transport minister R Ashoka on Saturday said only two depots will be shifted initially under the first phase.
Speaking at the launch of the revamped BMTC website, Ashoka said: “There will be no problem for commuters here as the BMTC bus terminal will operate as usual. At the KSRTC terminus, two depots will be shifted in the first phase next month. In the second phase, 1,100 buses will be shifted to other stations while retaining 1,600 scheduled services.”
He said if BMRC authorities notify the government a week before Metro work begins, they will partially vacate the bus station.
WEBSITE REVAMPED
The revamped BMTC website — www.bmtcinfo.com — has several user-friendly features such as route search. There is also information on fares and passes, along with the option of online purchase of the latter.
Additional features include weather and traffic update. There is also information about various services such as Vayu Vajra, Vajra, Big 10, Suvarna and Pushpak, along with routes and timing. One can also lodge complaints online or even call the helpline numbers — 18004251663, 12667 or 22029935 — for queries.
GPS-tracked information will be made available to passengers at bus terminals. Besides, the electronic ticketing project has been taken up at Hebbal depot.
