Parks, lakes to have themes

The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike has drawn a plan to design the parks and lakes based on themes.


During an interaction with the members of the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) here, the Palike Commissioner Bharat Lal Meena said, the lakes which are being surveyed will be rejuvenated and beautified based on themes. “Some will have herbs and others will have flowers grown,” he added. The BBMP is in touch with urban development planners in this regard, he said.

In response to queries on lack of public toilets in important trading localities in the City, Meena said, “Building toilets is not a big thing, but the system cannot assure their maintenance.”

On maintenance of City roads he said, “We have placed a clause of maintaining the roads for three years in the current contracts and a clause of maintenance of five years in the future contracts awarded to companies building roads in the City.”

The Commissioner asked industries to come forward to maintain and keep their backyards clean. The BBMP chief said a palike engineer could be attached to each industrial body for maintenance works in their locality.
