Bengaluru, Aug. 3: The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has decided to build 35 Traffic and Transit Management Centres (TTMC) under public-private partnership (PPP), which will serve as a one-stop solution centre for city residents.
Speaking at an interactive session with FKCCI members on Monday, BMTC managing director Syed Zameer Pasha said, “The project will be a PPP initiative and will construct TTMCs in highly congested areas such as Peenya. The TTMCs will have separate floors for parking and shopping malls.”
Introduction of electrically powered buses in the city is also on the anvil.
“Electric buses are popular in China and they are cheap as well as less polluting. BMTC is planning to try these buses,” Mr Pasha added. He announced that BMTC will hold talks with Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials regarding the construction of bus stands at various locations such as KR Market. The bus shelters will then be leased out for advertising. “We would like to install Global Positioning System (GPS)-enabled route information display systems in all bus stands. Since the buses will be connected to the control room, there will be no confusion about the route,” he said.
Mr Pasha also conveyed the readiness of BMTC to tie up with corporate entities in providing travel solutions. “We have already partnered with many companies and are looking out to reach out to many more as the Corporation will hire more number of luxury fleets in the coming days,” said Mr Pasha.
