Residents stage protest against BBMP decision

Special Correspondent
BANGALORE: A large number of residents of Malleswaram, particularly senior citizens, on Sunday staged a protest on West Park Road to express their resentment over the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) leasing out a park to the Malleswaram Sangeetha Sabha to construct an auditorium.

The agitation was led by the former Malleswaram MLA, M.R. Seetharam, the former Mayor, J. Huchappa, and a former corporator, B. Muniraju.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Seetharam said they were not against the proposal of the sangeetha sabha constructing an auditorium and that their resentment was over the BBMP decision.

The Chief Engineer of the BBMP, B.T. Ramesh, and the Joint Commissioner, BBMP, V.P. Ikkeri, said that efforts would be made to retain the park.
