An underpass will be provided for vehicles going to the railway station from Rajajinagar. Two loops will be provided for vehicles coming from the railway station to Rajajinagar and going towards Platform Road , and leading to Malleswaram via Seshadripuram. Ultimately, this will provide for seamless traffic on the Western corridor, he explained
Once started, the project could be completed in six months. Tenders have been called and the work is likely to begin from August, Mr Kumar said
“Around 12,880 square metres of land will be acquired from the railways, KPTCL and others for the project. Talks have been held with the railways and they have agreed to give the land as it will benefit their commuters as well,” he added
That’s not all. BBMP plans to convert three roads into signal free stretches in the west of the city, using magic box underpasses at all the major junctions. Dr Rajkumar Road, West of Chord Road and Siddaiah Road will be made signal free at a cost of Rs 53 crore
An elevated road will be provided for vehicles going from Magadi Road to Okalipuram and a new road will be built for vehicles going towards the Sujatha grade separator. An elevated road ending before the Okalipuram Junction has been planned at a cost of Rs 6 crore, BBMP commissioner Meena said.
