BANGALORE: The fight to save Lalbagh from the metro’s axe continued even on Tuesday.
Activists of Hasiru Usiru determined to save Lalbagh protested against cutting of the eucalyptus trees.
Around 15 members from Hasiru Usiru barged into the Labagh compound where eucalyptus trees were being chopped and forced the BMRCL contractor to stop the cutting of trees.
Saying, ‘Save Lalbagh for tomorrow ‘ the activists heckled the contractor and asked him to produce a permission paper before he touches the tree.
The contractor, unable to produce a document had to face the wrath of the gathered Hasiru Usiru members. Police was informed and ACP Ramesh Chandra of Siddapura Police station agreed to be the arbitrator in their case.
Speaking to Express, ACP Ramesh Chandra said,”Organisers of Hasiru Usiru and metro officials came to my office today.
There were certain things which needed to be clarified and I have told them to approach the forest department. They are going to meet the authorities tomorrow.”
