Bangalore: Heavy rain on Friday evening poured woes for residents and commuters in many parts of the city. The shower that lasted for less than an hour flooded roads in a few areas with water standing at knee-level. Tree-fall incidents were reported, which led to traffic jams in many areas. The city recorded 4.6 mm of rain.
According to Met department director A Muthuchami, southern parts of the state received rain.
“On Saturday, one or two places in the state and few parts of Bangalore may receive showers. It may continue till Sunday and then there will be clear weather,’’ he said.
Traffic jams were reported on MG Road, Brigade Road and surroundings. Tree fall was reported at Trinity Circle, Cunningham Road, Padmanabhanagar and Navrang Circle. Power shutdown: Due to highintensity winds, trees fell on power lines resulting in outage. Chamarajpet, Indiranagar, Cambridge Road, among other places, were hit. A Bescom official said power is being restored here.
Lines off the hook
A resident of Indiranagar-Kodihalli area said when they tried contacting the Bescom office to report a snapped cable wire, their calls were not answered. “Even after going to the office, they did not respond. We also called the police station but it was futile.’’
