New BDA layouts get govt nod

New BDA layouts get govt nod
DH News Service, Bangalore:
The State government has approved the Bangalore Development Authoritys plan to form three more layouts.

The approval comes even as the BDA failed to develop two layouts and provide infrastructure facilities to two more layouts, which it formed over the last five years.

The State cabinet on Saturday gave its approval for the K C Reddy Layout, D Devraj Urs Layout and the S Nijalingappa Layout located on the city outskirts.

The BDA announced five new layouts in September 2007. Of them, the Kempe Gowda Layout was approved by the State executive committee during President’s rule in March last year. The Shivaram Karanth Layout was approved by the BJP government in October last year. The State cabinet on Saturday approved the remaining three layouts at one go.

The Arkavathy Layout and the Sir M Viswesaraya Layout are yet to be developed. The authorities have notified land for the Kempe Gowda Layout.

Rural development and panchayat raj minister Shobha Karandlaje said after the cabinet meeting that the BDA had begun the process for acquiring land for the Kempe Gowda and Shivaram Karanth Layouts. Land acquisition for the three new layouts would begin soon.

Those who lose their land for the formation of layouts will have the option of claiming compensation in the form of cash or developed land.

The minister, however, did not say when the three new layouts would be ready.
