Tax on parking: BBMP clarifies

Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has clarified that parking vehicles inside houses does not attract taxes.


However, those who charge for parking in open space on hourly basis are bound to pay a tax of Rs 100 per two-wheeler and Rs 300 per four-wheeler, annually.

Recently three former Mayors of the city including Ramachandrappa, Huchchappa and P R Ramesh held a press conference stating that there is confusion on the tax structure for parking vehicles.

They had expressed apprehension that people may have to pay Rs 100 and Rs 300 per annum for parking two-wheelers and four wheelers respectively inside the houses.

The BBMP authorities have clarified that those commercial places where the parking space is open and parking fee is charged, attract payment of tax. Cinema halls and some shopping complexes where parking fee is charged from the vehicle owners fall in this category.
