BMTC's success story
Bangalore, DHNS:
Profit-making public sector transport undertaking, Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) that has come to be known for many firsts and unique commuter-friendly initiatives, has now come out with a compilation of its achievements in a book, a first by any urban transport undertaking in the country.
Titled ‘BMTC for the People - A Decade of Service and Dedication 1997-2007’, the book has been brought out by a committee comprising Principal Secretary (Transport) Upendra Tripathy, BMTC’s MD from 2004-08.
It covers the history of the State-run transport undertaking from its inception in 1997 and highlights all initiatives introduced by it, including introduction of the ‘Volvo’ city buses in India, that revolutionised premium travel, hitherto unknown in the country.
Senior journalist C T Joshi as an editorial consultant, has also contributed to bring out the publication.
