WORK ON THE WIDENING OF RACE COURSE ROAD AND ADJACENT STRETCHES IS ON AT A BRISK PACE

WHEN DID WORK START?
Work on this 1.67-km road started in August. The project involves a cost of Rs 4 crore.
HOW WIDE IS IT NOW?
It is now 30m and 28m wide (at a few spots near the underground reservoir) and has been made into a six-lane, bi-directional road. Earlier, it was just 10-12m wide, three-lane and uni-directional.
WHAT ABOUT THE SUBWAY?
The 18-m pedestrian subway is being extended by another 12m at the cost of Rs 32 lakh. Work on that is expected to be completed by March 2009.
