Now, get Schengen visa in Blore
DH News Service, New Delhi:
Germany is going to be the first country to open a consulate general in Bangalore.

Planning a tour to Germany and any of the 23 other countries in Europe? You do not have to go to Chennai any more to get your German and Schengen visa. Germany is going to be the first country to open a consulate general in Bangalore. German Foreign Minister Frank Walter Steinmeier will reach the garden city on Friday to open the consulate general, which will issue both German and Schengen visas.

Steinmeier is arriving in New Delhi late in the evening on Wednesday for a three-day-tour of India. He is likely to call on Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Opposition Leader L K Advani on Thursday.

According to a press-statement issued by the German Embassy here, Steinmeier will fly to Bangalore on Friday to open the consulate general. “Germany will be the first country to have its consulate general in the Information Technology (IT) capital of India. There are already more than 120 German companies or Indo-German joint ventures in Bangalore,” the statement said.

Berlin is opening the consulate general in Bangalore at a time when tech majors like Wipro, Infosys and TCS are reportedly contemplating to acquire the captive IT hubs of large German outsourcers like Volvo and Bosch.
The IT majors are also expected to focus more on Europe, with their key market in the US being the worst-hit by the global recession. Germany’s IT services market is worth $ 40-45 billion, and it is the second in Europe after the United Kingdom.

Its consulate general in Chennai has so far been providing consular services to German expats in and around Bangalore.
