Bangalore: The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has made special arrangements for immersion of Ganesh idols by creating enclosures at three lakes in the city. In a statement, BBMP Commissioner S. Subramanya has requested the public to immerse idols only in the enclosures specially created for the purpose at Sankey, Ulsoor and Yediyur lakes.

Besides, the BBMP has made arrangements for mobile vans fitted with water tanks in which idols up to two-and-a-half ft in height can be immersed. It has also requested the people not to purchase idols painted in toxic colours as immersion of such idols will pollute the water.

As a safety measure, the BBMP will be deploying 10 divers at the three lakes during immersion. It will also avail itself of help of various non-governmental organisations.
