The controversy stricken Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise (NICE) got a reprieve from the state government on Tuesday after a high level committee headed by chief secretary cleared hurdles for the Bangalore Mysore Infrastructure Corridor Project.

During the meeting, officials of the concerned departments were directed to withdraw directions against providing land to NICE for the completion of 41 km peripheral road that connect Tumkur Road and Hosur Road. The company hadn't received land sanction in 9 places including Gottigere on Bannerghatta Road.

Official sources said that except for Gottigere, where a case is pending in the high court, the company will get lands in the eight locations.

NICE which is executing the 111-km BMIC project, has completed the road part of Phase I. The first phase consists of a 9.1-km link road between Mysore Road (BHEL) and Somapura, development of interchanges at Hosur Road, Tumkur Road, and Link Road, and a 41-km peripheral road linking Hosur Road to Tumkur Road and the first township.

The government allotted 3,500 acres of the required 7,000 acres for the first phase. A 75-metre wide 41km grade separated peripheral road connecting Hosur Road, Bannerghatta Road, Kanakapura Road, Somapura Interchange, Mysore Road, Magadi Road and Tumkur Road is complete.
