Heavy rains continued to lash the City on Tuesday night. It started raining around 9 pm and lasted for nearly two hours...


Four trees came crashing down at Banashankari, Jayanagar, JP Nagar and Hanumanthnagar leading to traffic jams. A car was completely crushed in JP Nagar second phase when a tree fell on it.

The BBMP officials alleged that they there was no response from the BESCOM officials to clear the trees which led to many problems.

Traffic crawled at snail’s pace near flyover in KR Market due to flooding of roads. There was an accident involving a car leading to a traffic jam. However, there were no injuries. Many car owners were reluctant to wade through the water fearing the rain water might affect engines. Several auto rickshaw driver pushed their auto to reach safer places as the engines stopped functioning as the rain water entered into the silencer. Water logging incidents were reported in many low-lying areas of the City. Motorists found it difficult to wade through roads as most of the roads in several parts of the City were submerged in the rain water. Some areas plunged into darkness due to power shut down.

Meterological department sources said the City recorded 51.4 mm rainfall and airport 13.2 mm rainfall. It is likely to rain towards Wednesday late evening, added the sources.
