Evict lake encroachers, HC directs govt
DH News Service, Bangalore:
The High Court on Tuesday directed the State government to evict encroachers around Horamavu lake within two months, and initiate action against them.

The petitioners A Jayarama Reddy and other residents of Hoysalanagar, said that 37.14 acres of the lake land had been encroached and sought court directions to clear it and reserve the same for the general public.

The petition alleged that some government officials were hand-in-glove with the encroachers and realtors, as several apartments were being constructed there, while representations to the authorities had fallen on deaf ears. A legal notice had also been issued to the respondents on January 29.

The division bench headed by Acting Chief Justice Deepak Varma directed the government to look into the representation and clear the encroachments. The petitioners have been told to approach the court, if there is adverse action by the respondents.
