'Restore City tanks'

A group of experts headed by noted environmentalist A N Yellappa Reddy has requested High Legal Services Committee to initiate action against the authorities concerned to ensure the restoration of seven tanks in Bangalore North taluk.

The committee had been appointed by the state forest department, following a complaint by Ila Chandrashekar, trustee of Bangalore Environment Trust, on the threat to Doddabommsandra lake, a major water body in the City.

The team has suggested several measures for the restoration of the lake, and has requested the High Court Legal Services Authority to initiate appropriate action.
