Police flex muscles, wield lathis at IPL match
DH News Service,Bangalore:
Opposing the policemen who were letting people without passes into the Chinnaswamy Stadium for IPL match cost an employee of DNA dearly, the event management organisation, as he was thrashed by the policemen on Wednesday afternoon.

Due to the unruly behaviour of the men in Khaki, there was a commotion for nearly an hour until the matter was resolved. Police appeared to be determined not to let the event managers to lodge any complaint.

On Wednesday, Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers were to clash at Chinnaswamy Stadium. At about 2.30 pm, at gate number 17, people with passes and tickets were to be let inside but some policemen right in front of an Inspector were letting certain people without even checking whether they possessed passes or tickets. When the employee of the event manager saw the injustice happening, he objected to it. To this, the policemen thrashed him. All the employees of the event manager rushed to his rescue. But the policemen had gone berserk chasing every employee who were opposing them and bashed them up in full public view.

The fracas created a commotion at the Gate-17 . The policemen even threatened them of dire consequences in case they lodged any complaint against them.

On the other hand, police officers requesting anonymity advocated the action saying that the employee of the event manager Raveesh Kumar had used foul language, which got the policemen irate.

So far neither DNA nor any of his employees have lodged a complaint against the policemen, said DCP of Central Division BNS Reddy. Reddy has sought a detailed reported regarding the incident by the Cubbon Park police.
The DNA officials have reportedly held an emergency meeting to discuss the issue.
