KRV activists cause chaos
TIMES NEWS NETWORK

Chaos reigned at Mehkri Circle on Friday morning when Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) activists staged a rasta roko, demanding that the BIA be named after the city’s founder, Kempe Gowda.
This resulted in a massive traffic jam on Bellary Road. A protester, Basavaraj Padakodi, tried to slide under a moving bus to hamper traffic flow. He was treated for bruises as an outpatient at Bowring hospital. Later, some activists lay on the road, stopping traffic for about 30 minutes. Two hundred KRV activists were taken into preventive custody when they blocked the road.
KRV state unit president T A Narayana Gowda said activists from Peenya, Dasarahalli, Yeshwantpur, Kengeri and Koramangala were held.
KRV activists are also demanding that BIA employ those who have parted with land for the airport. Gowda said, “Taxi drivers who operated at HAL airport should not be thrown on to the street. BIA’s taxi service provider must accommodate them.’’
Bus burned: KRV activists burned down a bus on Tumkur NICE Road at 10.45 pm. No injury was reported.
