BANGALORE: Almost three years since it first came out with a Chennai edition from outside the home state Andhra Pradesh on 28 May 2005, Deccan Chronicle (DC) launched its Bangalore edition today. Its financial publication Financial Chronicle (FC) was also launched in Bangalore today.

DC was established in 1938 and has seven editions from Andhra Pradesh, (Vishakapatnam, Karimnagar, Nellore, Rajahmundhry, Vijayawada, Secunderabad, and Anantapur) and one from Chennai. It claims to be Hyderabad's largest English daily and the fourth largest read English daily in the country.

DC will be offered for free for the first few days in Bangalore to enable 'this welcoming city to sample our magic mix'.

The 48-page edition is in two sections - a 24-page newsprint sized main section and another half newsprint sized section 'Chronicle Bengaluru'.

DC is the franchisee of the 'Deccan Chargers' cricket team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) that has its inaugural tourney being played at present.

The other major dailies having Bangalore editions are The Times of India, Deccan Herald, The Hindu, The Indian Express, The Asian Age, and Bangalore Mirror.

Business Standard, Hindu Business Line, The Economic Times, Financial Express and The Mint are the major daily financial newspapers with Bangalore editions.
