BBMP defaults on drainage work,
DH News Service,Bangalore:
The Residents Welfare Association of Bhadrappa, Maruti Nagar, Devi Nagar and Balaji Extension Layouts have denied the statement given by BBMP to the media on May 23 that it has completed much of the work related to a drain in the area.

A statement signed by 24 residents belonging to the areas said, “The BBMP has carried out work to a certain extent and definitely not 80 per cent as stated by them. A drainage flowing through the areas was in a very bad shape due to the presence of mud and thick grass and unless they are cleared from the drain, free flow of dirty water is not possible.”
“It is absolutely necessary to clear them as the rainy season is fast approaching,” Association president K P Subbiah said.
The residents also charged that the forest department had put up a huge cemented blockage near Hebbal lake in the middle of the drainage with two small pipes fitted to them. “Only a small quantity of drain water would pass through them,” the residents said. Despite bringing it to the notice of the BBMP, no action has been taken, the statement charged.
Other urgent requirements were the construction of small drainages to the crossroads, pending for long, and the need to provide Cauvery water or borewell water in the area, they said.
