'Regularisation fee unethical'

The Save Bangalore Committee on Friday staged a protest demanding the withdrawal of Sakrama-2007, in front of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) head office.

Convener of the committee Dr B R Manjunath said that asking property owners to pay regularisation fee is highly unethical. Besides, builders’ officers of the Palike are also responsible for unauthorised constructions, but the policy does not speak of penalising the officers, he added.

He made it clear that the committee is not asking for extension of the period to submit applications for
regularisation.

“Our demand is that the scheme should be withdrawn in toto,” Dr Manjunath said.
