Sakrama face-off

Sakrama face-off
Those living away from Bangalore or abroad and willing to opt for the Sakrama scheme to regularise their properties, need not come all the way to the city for this purpose.

Though Deccan Herald had announced that it would host Vasanth Rao, BBMP Deputy Commissioner (Resources) exclusively for telephone and e-mail interaction, many people chose to come down to the newspaper office and have a personal interaction with the official. The BBMP team obliged for a face-to-face session that lasted for more than an hour. Questions, and at times barbs, were directed at the officials in the session that covered everything from bank loans for the regularisation fee to buildings with residential-cum-commercial activity to accountability of BBMP officials.

Deccan Herald has also received several questions regarding Sakrama via e-mail. Vasanth Rao’s reply to the same will be published in Monday’s edition. It will also be published on Deccan Herald’s website - www.deccanherald.com

The owner of such properties can give power of attorney (PoA) to a local representative, authorising the person to apply for the Sakrama scheme on his/her behalf. PoA can be sent through either e-mail or fax, Vasanth Rao said. The local representative with PoA can also sign on the Sakrama documents on the owner’s behalf. However, at the time of getting clear titles of the property, the representative has to produce the original documents of the property, he added.
