Renovated Ravindra Kalakshetra inaugurated

BACK IN BUSINESS: The renovated Ravindra Kalakeshetra, which was inaugurated in Bangalore on Wednesday.

BANGALORE: Secretary to the Department of Public Works, Sudhir Krishna, inaugurated the renovated Ravindra Kalakeshtra equipped with modern lighting, digital sound system, new green rooms and seating arrangements at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.84 crore here on the eve of Suvarana Karnataka Rajyotsva Day.

Secretary to Kannada and Culture I.M. Vittal Murthy said following the recommendations of the expert committee headed by Chairperson of the Karnataka Nataka Academy Srinivas G. Kappanna, the Government effected a comprehensive facelift to the 852 seating capacity auditorium and its external ambience. The Department of Public Works Department took the entire responsibility of renovation.

A library of books and music CDs and DVDs, a cultural park adored by sculptures, a new canteen would be facilitated in the vicinity of the kalakshetra by the end of December at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.5 crore, he said.

The Commissioner, Kannada and Culture, Shivananjaiah, the Director Kannada and Culture K.T. Chikkanna, and the Chief Architect of the Public Works Department K. Uday were present.
