Rainwater harvesting a must in buildings in new zones

BANGALORE: Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner S. Subramanya on Thursday directed senior officials to insist on rainwater harvesting, solar energy for lighting and water heating besides sewage line treatment facilities in all commercial complexes and multi-storeyed buildings that are being constructed in the new zones, especially in Bommanahalli.

The directions from Mr. Subramanya came during his inspection that he undertook with other senior BBMP officials. Mr. Subramanya directed the joint commissioners of new zones to insist that all new buildings and complexes should have facilities, irrespective of whether the buildings would be used for commercial or residential purposes.

He also directed the officials to impose stringent conditions before approving the plans. The commissioner also inspected development and repair works pertaining to primary drain near Silk Board junction, works at Ibblur camp, main road leading to Doddakannahalli through Belandhur tank, and other major road works taken up by BBMP in Kadubisanahalli, HSR Layout, Yellukunte village, Mangamanapalya, Kudlu, Somasundar Palya, Puttenahalli, Sarakki, Doddakallasandra and other places.
