‘Real estate behind NICE plea’

‘Real estate behind NICE plea’
The Times of India

The plea put up by NICE company with regard to the Peripheral Road over Gottigere Tank on Bannerghatta Road has a real estate motive behind it, stated the state government.
Advocate General Udaya Holla submitted before Justice S Abdul Nazeer that the company wants to sell 142 acres by having the road on the south side of the lake. “In fact, the company’s motive is to sell around 3,000 acres with the rate hovering around Rs 10 crore per acre. The amount is quite unimaginable.”
The hearing was adjourned to next Wednesday. It may be recalled that NICE company had moved the court questioning the government’s order (November 4, 2006) in which the company was asked to build the peripheral road straight across the tank with supporting pillars in the tankbed so as it doesn’t disrupt the flow of water.
